FINAL MEETING 8 SEPTEMBER 2017
It was with great sadness that members of the Lyme Bay Photographic Club met on September 8th at Woodmead Halls for the last time. Club members had dwindled to such an extent that it was not viable to continue as a club after 48 years as it was impossible to form a working committee.
Current Chairman of the Sidmouth Photographic Club, David Young and his wife Di, expressed their disappointment that the club would no longer operate. Sidmouth Club felt it was important to attend Lyme’s final meeting as the Sidmouth Club had been there at Lyme’s inaugural meeting in 1969. Sidmouth was itself celebrating its 80th with a healthy membership of over 70 members. Also present was the Chairman of Chard Camera Club and two club members who had formed close links with Lyme Bay and had come to pass on their commiserations.
Remaining Lyme Bay members had agreed to the distribution of equipment, cups and trophies and remaining funds. It had been agreed that the club’s outstanding balance should be used to support both the RNLI and the Dorset Air Ambulance. It was hoped that current members would also join together for the annual Christmas lunch at Hunter’s Lodge on 8th December.
